Welcome to Freedom Shores

A Spacious & Universally Accessible Boutique Hotel with Restaurant and RV Park

At Freedom Shores, our entire boutique resort including all guest rooms have been built and designed to be universally accessible. Each over-sized room features garden views and offers basic décor, custom-built wooden furniture, remote controlled air conditioning, ceiling fan, and mosquito netting on windows. The bathrooms are private, fully accessible and include an adjustable height shower. Free Wi-Fi is also available in public areas.

Located 20 feet from Laguna de Términos seafront and beach, Freedom Shores is also the home of La Gringa Restaurant and Bar. Fresh seafood caught daily in the waters surrounding Isla Aguada are paired with local flavors and classic recipes, and is also available as room service for all our guests.

Freedom Shores is a great choice for travelers interested in water activities or relaxation on the adjacent beach. Activities such as bird watching, dolphin watching, boat tours (the hotel is 20 minutes by boat from Isla de los Pájaros Island), and kayaks can be arranged as well. The Old Lighthouse & Museum is 1000 feet from our front entrance, and Ciudad del Carmen International Airport is a short, 50-minute drive away.

Meet Bill & Thelma

...and their dream of a Universally Accessible Boutique Hotel with Restaurant and RV Park

To people with disabilities, travel can be dangerous and a challenge, and yet we yearn for those adventures, the opportunity to be with our families and friends in new and exciting locales; to experience the richness of new cultures together and to build a tapestry of memories that surround us with their warmth when we go home.

Those yearnings drove Bill & Thelma to create a unique beach accessible Four-Star Resort & RV Park in the little fishing village of Isla Aguada, Campeche on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

No stranger to Mexico, Bill, a quadriplegic from a diving accident while serving as a Marine, lived in Cuernavaca, Mexico for several years where he met & married, his beautiful wife of 45 years, Thelma del Carmen. They always dreamed of opening a place where those with disabilities, and especially Disabled Veterans in Wheelchairs, could vacation, alone or with their families, in comfort. In a resort which met all of their needs and with activities in which everyone could participate.

That dream came true for them….now, let us make it come true for you!
